I rather expect that Mr. Lincoln himself would quickly disown BO if he were alive to do so. BO gets away with this falsehood only because the dead cannot speak up in their own defense.

A number of Lincon's documented statements indicate that he was no lover of blacks, so I doubt that he would fall for one with a silver tongue.Dr.Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18360786634583725263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27070282.post-79100178585622105912009-02-14T20:38:00.000-06:002009-02-14T20:38:00.000-06:00Actually,if you look at Lincoln, who Obama seems t...Actually,if you look at Lincoln, who Obama seems to want to be like, he was a leader of a far leftist party(early Republicans), and he took us into a civil war. Don't think Obama wants this, but neither did Lincoln. Sometimes the onrush of events carries all along with it. So it was with Lincoln and could, in the end, be with Obama.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27070282.post-278107341063053972009-02-12T18:04:00.000-06:002009-02-12T18:04:00.000-06:00Being from North Carolina and now living in Wiscon...Being from North Carolina and now living in Wisconsin I think it is certain we are headed for Civil War unless something dramatic changes soon. I have never seen the fault lines so clear between those who follow the Constitution and those who despise its limitations. It is still my hope that it can be avoided, but it is going to require a large number of Americans actually demanding and voting for accountability to the Constitution.DRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02513605442426244898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27070282.post-58167029431408614092009-02-09T20:11:00.000-06:002009-02-09T20:11:00.000-06:00I think a bloody civil war is a virtual certainty....I think a bloody civil war is a virtual certainty. As Ron Russell has suggested, it is more likely to take a rural vs urban form, although I think that there will be a regional dimension to it also. I have lived on the East Coast and in the Upper Midwest, and I see all the difference in the world between the two; they would not be together after such a conflict.

A commenter at another blog suggested that what is needed is to confine the cities, much like Israel has confined the Palestinians with their large wall. Unfortunately, I think this would just lead to the creation of a number of "Gaza-zones" in the US. But the fact is, most of the dependent people are found in the cities, where as large numbers (although not all) of the productive people are found in more rural areas. Just how this is going to shake out is difficult to foresee.Dr.Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18360786634583725263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27070282.post-22277428776514388672009-02-04T13:59:00.000-06:002009-02-04T13:59:00.000-06:00Let us stand here together then Mr. Morris, becaus...Let us stand here together then Mr. Morris, because, God willing, I'm not leaving either.Call Me Momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17420259973871484926noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27070282.post-23340669253114889892009-02-04T13:13:00.000-06:002009-02-04T13:13:00.000-06:00I'm not going anywhere.I'm not going anywhere.Terry Morrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00166609562028309038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27070282.post-64450359037305512852009-02-03T11:38:00.000-06:002009-02-03T11:38:00.000-06:00The idea of a revolution in thinking rather than a...The idea of a revolution in thinking rather than an armed conflict is an attractive one, but, the tree of liberty seems to be wilting and in need of fertilizer.

We need leaders-people who are willing to stand their ground even when belittled by the MSM. We need to re-educate our children and their parents about the duties and responsibilities of citizenship and we need a free press that takes responsibility for upholding true journalistic standards of integrity.

Without those things, I think it is a certainty that the tree of liberty will be refreshed with the blood of patriots and tyrants. If, indeed a conflict should arise it will not be region against region as in the great Civil War, but rather a struggle of urban against rural--there the divisions are the widest. But what I actually see is this: the Democrates will chase Keynesianism until they catch it---they are destined to do this much as Captain Ahab was doomed to chase Moby Dick until he caught him. You know the end of that story. I see many in the urban areas changing their vote in the next election. They think Obama will be an answer to their problems but will soon become aware that government is not the answer. Of course, these poor souls, will never get up off their butts and help themselves---they will continue to blame others and not see their own flaws. Yes, many will turn from Obama and look to some other "con man".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27070282.post-63741057754769683142009-02-01T08:31:00.000-06:002009-02-01T08:31:00.000-06:00Could a revolution - perhaps merely a revolution i...Could a revolution - perhaps merely a revolution in thinking - avert such a crisis? Are we condemned to tragedy for a collective lack of courage to insist on candid problem solving?

I'm reminded of Lincoln's Second Inaugural address:

"The prayers of both could not be answered; that of neither has been answered fully. The Almighty has his own purposes. 'Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!' If we shall suppose that American Slavery is one of those offences which, in the providence of God, must needs come, but which, having continued through His appointed time, He now wills to remove, and that He gives to both North and South, this terrible war, as the woe due to those by whom the offence came, shall we discern therein any departure from those divine attributes which the believers in a Living God always ascribe to Him? Fondly do we hope—fervently do we pray—that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue, until all the wealth piled by the bond-man's two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash, shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said 'the judgments of the Lord, are true and righteous altogether'"Michael Tamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16861899520031696061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27070282.post-23606050150158552412009-02-01T07:34:00.000-06:002009-02-01T07:34:00.000-06:00I read on the blog-o-sphere of theories that we ar...I read on the blog-o-sphere of theories that we are headed for a civil war, because the election and subsequent actions of our new administration have cast the differences between liberals and conservatives into a stark and unpleasant new light.

We're definitely headed for a civil war, there's no question about that at this point, at least not to my mind.
