The Real Islam?

I've posted links here before to the Patriot Post, a great resource for conservatives. I especially like the piece they just did on Islam, which is along the same lines of the piece I did here entitled The Problems With Islam.

I'm encouraging everyone I know to read up on the topic. We need a healthy dose of intellectual honesty - now, more than ever - if we're going to understand fundamental threats to our way of life and how to deal with them.

I've been thinking and reading. If "Crisis in Islam" is giving me the right base to think from, (And I grant you that reading it at the same time as "The Tipping Point","Nanofutures" and "How to Talk to a Liberal" may cause odd associations to form), it seems imperative for the government of Iraq to be able to portray the insurgents as raiders and rebels if they want the citizenry to take up their roles as citizens and rid the country of them. Because labeling them as rebels and raiders legitimizes armed as well as civic resistance to them. Right now, part of the problem is that they are perceived as being "holier than thou" because they are supposedly fighting for Islam in these attacks. If the government of Iraq can cast them as one of the 4 groups that can be legitimately opposed within the context of Islam, then that frees the people of their religious obligation to protect them through silence.

Does that sound reasonable or have I been doing too much reading?

Mom,

That sounds reasonable enough, I suppose, from their standpoint. I've just got to do some source reading on Islam, because like a biography, any writing about it is going to incorporate some of the author's bias.

Mom,
I've read alot of Mark Hitchcock's books and find them redundant and somewhat shallow (not that I'm Mr. Deep thinker). The book "Antichrist Islams Coming Messiah" is an in depth look at Islam from a former missionary to Muslims (Joel Richardson). It's quiet eye opening to say the least.

wow, A.H.'s very own blog, sweet.

Hi J.
Thanks for the recommendation. I've been checking the library to see if they have that one and so far, they don't. I'll keep an eye out for it though.

Hey J, thanks for coming by bro, and thanks for the recommendation.

P.S. It's easy to set up your own blog, and if the spirit ever moves you, I can give you a few pointers, though I'm no expert myself.

Setting up my own blog A.H.?

Now that's dangerous! LOL.

Hey J,

Only dangerous to the entrenched monied power elite, right? Only dangerous to those who'd prefer that a bright light not be cast upon them.
