Offensive, indeed

With all of the breathless revelation that Bush considers Iraq something akin to the Tet Offensive, no one has bothered to read into his comments. At least, no one with the brains enough to know their history.

Read the link, if you're not aware of the history, but here's the quote that pays:

"The Tet Offensive is frequently seen as an example of the value of propaganda, media influence and popular opinion in the pursuit of military objectives."

Enjoy.

Wait, this can't be right. It says on the link that...we WON the Tet Offensive???

That's putting it mildly, Samuel.

US and allied deaths: 4,324

Commies dead: 25,000-45,000

I'd call it a complete domination. Yet, somehow, the MSM has the vast majority of the public convinced of our "failure" in the Tet offensive.

Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth?

You'll have to forgive me. I guess I'm just in one of them moods, but...

Might this be the statement you're paraphrasing, Mr. Hamilton?:

"There is nothing so absurd but if you repeat it often enough people will believe it."

This is generally credited to William James. But Jefferson had his own version which I don't recollect at the moment. So I figure James probably borrowed his version from Jefferson, and Jefferson his from someone else, and etc... LOL

I think that's the one I was looking for, although worded as I prefer it sounds like a page from the Leftist Handbook, doesn't it?

But I imagine it does, yes.

Don't be silly. According to the mainstream media, only Rove has a handbook. ;)
