The "thief class" is at it again. We have this to reflect on upon reading a story like this: there is precious little difference between Republicans and Democrats.
I can only wonder if the system - coupled with a degeneration of public virtue - is what causes this problem. If domestic matters were the responsibility of the most local spheres of government, would the earmark/pork/pet project phenomenon be a thing of the past? Maybe, maybe not. But at least there would probably be more light shed on the issue, and the opportunities for mischief would be fewer.

Dude, what are you trying to do, ruin my weekend???
Like the little girl said:
"I'd just move."
Who can argue with a nine year old?
It's a good thing the Lord granted me an exceptionally beautiful and uplifting weekend or I'd be asking the same thing.
I think bills should be debated on their own merits with no add-ons allowed.
From the mouths of babes, my friend. That's a future leader right there, folks.
It would probably mean more legislation, but I'm with you 100%, Mom. I'd like every branch of government to be concerned with the appropriateness and constitutionality of any and every bill, for that matter.
P.S. It should be no wonder our "representatives" are elites when money has become such a major force in American politics.
P.P.S. I've been looking for, and have not yet found, statistics about fundraising going back to, say, 1980. If anyone tracks these down before me, you'll live forever in the history of the AFB (and the internet, too, while I'm at it).
